Our team

Abraham Kraus

Founder and CEO

Since 2007, Abraham has been shaping the landscape of the healthcare industry. He started young — as a child, he frequently visited local nursing homes to bring joy to residents.

Abraham is experienced in all aspects of healthcare management, including general management, personnel management, and purchasing. He is the guiding force behind the Paramount Care Centers’ exponential growth and acquisitions and directed the development of initiatives and programs that are the envy of the industry and the standard by which other providers measure themselves. Abraham’s singular commitment to patient care and satisfaction has caused Paramount Care Centers to achieve numerous industry benchmarks for stellar performance.

Although he is chiefly self-educated, Abraham’s drive to improve residents’ quality of life has led him to success. He prides himself on getting to know his residents, improving their quality of life, and treating them like family. 

Michael Czermak

COO

Since 2017, Michael has held various management and executive positions in the healthcare industry. Michael began his career in SNF as a Central Supplies Director and has grown with Paramount Care Centers to his current position as Chief Operating Officer. His experience in implementing operational strategies, quality of care, and compliance while minimizing costs and increasing census ensures the facilities provide care and customer service at the highest standards. Family and resident satisfaction are Michael’s constant mission and parameter for success. Michael and the Paramount Care Centers team invest in building and nurturing every single on of their proud staff community, with a deeply rooted connection and sincere appreciation for the line staff caring for the needs and making a difference in the lives of our residents daily.

Shimon Stern

Chief Financial Officer

As Chief Financial Officer of Paramount Care Centers, Shimon is responsible for the financial stewardship of the network of facilities. He develops and implements overall financial strategy, including operating and capital budgeting, financial and management reporting, controllership, accounting, procurement, and payroll. Shimon administers all financial and accounting systems with financial policies and procedures which ensure successful outcomes.

Shimon also consults with the administration concerning financial affairs, providing an analysis of income, expenditures, and capital asset values to determine optimal future courses of action. He is adept at reducing operating costs and increasing income and plays a critical role in providing strategic financial leadership. Shimon brings with him extensive experience in the healthcare sector. Prior to joining Paramount, Shimon worked as a senior auditor for Loeb and Troper, LLP and Martin Friedman, CPA, leading accounting firms in the industry.

Angelica Sarenas, PT, RAC-CT

Regional Director of Rehab

Angelica has a varied and extensive clinical background, with over 18 years’ experience as a physical therapist and related work in the entire CCRC continuum of care. She is a licensed therapist in New Jersey, New York, and Indiana and is also a certified resident assessment coordinator. Before joining the Paramount team, Angelica was a successful VP of Operations and an integral member of a team that acquired 126 facilities across 10 states. Angelica is a dynamic, driven, and results-oriented leader who inspires her team and her colleagues by example. Her strong knowledge of regulatory practice and expertise make her an invaluable player on the Paramount Care Centers team.

Cindy Preston, RN

VP of Clinical Operations

Cindy Preston has many years of experience in all aspects of post-acute health care, as well as state and federal regulatory and compliance issues. Her unique specialty is on improving the quality of care and services to reduce rehospitalization from skilled nursing facilities. Cindy has held the Director of Nursing position at several long-term care facilities and managed the in-service training for administration and staff in facilities throughout New York and New Jersey. As the BP of Clinical Operations, she brings premier medical care and recovery to every resident.

Meir Papa

Vice President of Ops

Meir Papa LNHA is a highly seasoned healthcare administration professional, specializing in nursing home management. As the Vice President of Operations at Paramount Care Centers since December 2021, he oversees the strategic operations of the esteemed nursing home chain. Prior roles include serving as Administrator at Brookhaven Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare, where his leadership resulted in a deficiency-free inspection by the New Jersey Department of Health. Meir continued his success as Administrator at Hudsonview Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare, solidifying his reputation as a capable leader. With a background as a Nursing Home Administrator, Meir leverages his expertise in his current role to optimize operations, ensuring top-tier care across the Paramount Care Centers chain.

Charles Grossman

HR & Payroll Director

Charles Grossman is a vital member of the Paramount Care Centers corporate team as Director of HR and Payroll. Charles brings years of healthcare accounting and finance experience to Paramount Care Centers. Prior to joining Paramount Care Centers, Charles served as a Staffing Coordinator for various skilled nursing facilities. He oversees all aspects of HR and payroll, taking care of our fantastic staff.

Dassy Schechter

VP of Marketing & Business Development

Dassy Schecter, CALA, CDP, has for the past two decades been immersed in the field of healthcare. Dassy handles both the public relations and marketing for the Paramount buildings.
She has used her unique talents and skillset to transform distressed, underperforming assets and recreate them. She has seen this success by implementing a “ground up” approach in marketing. Dassy has innovated several programs to enhance the CX, and make sure each center has culture sensitive programs to fill the needs of the greater community. She specializes in revitalizing existing and forming new industry relationships, implementing a wide array of community wellness based programs and building teams that share her passion for offering the very best in patient centric care.

Esther Olshin

Director of Clinical Reimbursement & Development

As Director of Clinical Reimbursement & Development for Paramount Care Centers, Esther underwent extensive training and shadowed the top nurses and therapists in the industry. With her keen insight into the dynamics of reimbursement and by creating and implementing systems and continuous staff education, she soon helped the Paramount facilities increase their profits by nearly 50%. In August of 2020, Esther was recruited to head the reimbursement department for Paramount Care Centers where she effectively incorporated the systems she created over the years into the facilities’ daily operations. Esther and her team of clinical reimbursement specialists implement their proven programs into the facilities and to date have proven additional revenues averaging $1.5 million, as well as the highest standards of compliance and documentation.

Ben Treitel

LNHA, Director of purchasing

With a decade in the healthcare industry, Ben has navigated roles from nursing home administration to the Director of Purchasing. Since joining Paramount in 2019, Ben has been active in specializing cost-effective procurement. He leverages a comprehensive understanding of the industry, having worked in nursing facilities in various different roles. Utilizing his experience, Ben has successfully renegotiated numerous vendor contracts for significant savings throughout the organization. As the Director of Purchasing, his primary focus is on overseeing procurement, vendor relations, and contracts to ensure operational and cost efficiency. Ben is dedicated to advancing the company’s mission by consistently enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of our procurement strategies.
